A2 (motorcycle)
- A motorcycle with a maximum power output of 35 kW and a power-to-weight ratio
of no more than 0.2 kW/kg, not derived from a vehicle
developing more than twice its power. - Light motorcycle (A1)
- Moped (AM)
- Light quadricycle (AM)
- Tricycle power ≤ 15 kW (A1)
Minimum training for direct access :
- Theory: 12 hours (6 hours if already licensed)
- Practical: 16 hours (10 hours if you hold category A1, which has not been issued by equivalence with category B)
Minimum training for progressive access :
Access to category A2 is also possible after 2 years' driving experience on category A1 motor vehicles, and on condition of having completed a training course (theory and practical) of at least 7 hours at a driving school. This provision does not apply to candidates who have obtained category A1 by equivalence with category B.
Required documents :
- Recent passport photo (front view), 45 x 35mm format
- Recent medical certificate (less than 3 months old)
- A recent police record if the applicant is of age at the time of application
- Extract from the criminal record of the country of origin if residence in Luxembourg for less than 5 years
- The application must be signed by the applicant, or by a parent or guardian.

A1 (light motorcycle)
Minimum training :
Theory: 12 hours (6 hours if already licensed)

A (motorcycle ≥ 35 kW)
Minimum training :
Theory: 7 hours
Practical: There is no practical exam.
B 100 (≤ 125 cm 3 )
Minimum training :
Theory: 7 hours
Practical: There is no practical exam.
B accompanied
Applicants for a category B driver's license may opt for the accompanied driving system.
F (tractor)
Minimum training :
Theoretical: 12 hours
Practical: There is no practical training, but a practical exam is required.
